Illustrated Map Design
‘Greening the Grosvenor Estate’

Client:
Turkington Martin

Sector:
Landscape Architecture

Location:
London

The brief:

Create an attractive, hand-drawn map with layers and layers of information for people to dive into and explore.

The map needed to explain the work of Turkington Martin who were asked to create bio diverse habitats and outdoor spaces for six residential blocks owned by the Grosvenor Estate in central London.

The process:

After an initial call with Turkington Martin, I created a rough sketch map outlining my thoughts of how to include the necessary information into the map. Once approved, I drafted and redrafted, drew and redrew the map of London and the project buildings to ensure the project sites drew the eye towards them and sat in roughly the right place within their London setting. Once the map and buildings were almost right, I moved on to draw in the project details working closely with Turkington Martin to ensure I was representing their work appropriately.

The solution:

A hand-drawn, illustrated map, produced at 300 dpi / A4 size. The map was emailed to the client as JPEGS and PNGs for online use and as a high resolution PDF for print purposes.
