The brief:

The Manhattan Kayak Club (MKC) asked me to design a hand-drawn poster map depicting their leisure routes up and down the Hudson River. The map needed to be fairly technically accurate, fun to look at and appealing to potential customers.

The process:

Via video call and email, I worked with the MKC to create a detailed, bright, bold and colourful map used by the club to advertise their offer to potential customers. Starting with the map base, I drew up rough sketch designs outlining the extents of the map and the detail that needed to be included. Through various iterations, I refined and redrew until all parties were happy with the map.

The final map drawing featured hints of New York landmarks as well as the various stop-off points offered on the SUP kayak trips such as Surf City, Secret Beach Escape and Sushi Trip.

The solution:

A bold, bright and hand-drawn illustrated map ready to advertise a business.
