The brief:

Create a striking and formal cover design for Acquire Magazine linking Newcastle Upon Tyne and London.

The process:

I was provided with an outline brief of illustratively linking Newcastle and London. Through initial sketches, the map idea developed using the Rivers Tyne and Thames as a visual link between the two cities. I added in relevant landmarks, hand-drawn in black ink and reversed into white digitally. The blue background and bright pink Issue Number text matched Foster Maddison’s brand colours.

The solution:

A hand-drawn, illustrated cover design using the magazine’s mast head and Foster Maddison’s logo. The image was sent as a high-resolution PDF, with bleed and crop marks as specified by the company printing the magazine.
